La Vallée des Cobras (1957) is one of the later adventures in Hergé’s lesser-known series Jo, Zette et Jocko, following the exploits of siblings Jo and Zette Legrand and their pet monkey Jocko. In this installment, the trio accompanies their engineer father to a remote Indian valley plagued by deadly cobras and a hidden criminal gang sabotaging a vital dam project. The story combines jungle adventure, family dynamics, and Hergé’s signature blend of suspense and humor, though it lacks the global appeal of Tintin.
While the series never reached Tintin’s iconic status, La Vallée des Cobras showcases Hergé’s knack for youthful adventure and meticulous artwork. A curiosity for completists and fans of mid-century European comics.
(Note: The series was discontinued after five albums; English editions are titled Jo, Zette and Jocko.)
