Mystery at the Moss-Covered Mansion is the 18th book in the original Nancy Drew mystery series, first published in 1941 under the pseudonym Carolyn Keene. This classic adventure follows teen sleuth Nancy Drew as she investigates eerie happenings at a secluded estate in Florida, blending Southern Gothic atmosphere with fast-paced intrigue.

While driving through Florida with her friends Bess and George, Nancy stumbles upon the abandoned-looking Moss-Covered Mansion, rumored to be haunted. Strange occurrences—mysterious lights, phantom growls, and a runaway circus lion—lead her to uncover a smuggling ring using the mansion as a hideout. Along the way, she encounters a missing heiress, a suspicious caretaker, and coded messages, all while dodging danger.
