Originally published in a Limited edition of 1500 copies by the Limited Edition Club, 1954. This is a regular edition published by The Heritage Press, nd [1954]. Bound in quarter marble board. The book has very light rubbing on head/tail of spine. Slipcase has tears and wears around the edges, still sound. Numerous full-page watercolours by Edmund Dulac, his last work. A Very Good copy in a Good Slipcase.

Comus is a masque in honour of chastity, written by John Milton. It was first presented on Michaelmas, 1634, before John Egerton, 1st Earl of Bridgewater, at Ludlow Castle in celebration of the Earl’s new post as Lord President of Wales.

John Milton was an English poet and intellectual who served as a civil servant for the Commonwealth of England under its Council of State and later under Oliver Cromwell.
